Exporting Civil 3D projects to Revizto Follow
This article describes how to export Civil 3D projects to Revizto.
Overview
You can export models and sheets from a Civil 3D project to Revizto.
Prerequisites
Before you export Civil 3D projects to Revizto, ensure that the following conditions are met:
-
Your computer meets the requirements for exporting projects.
-
Both Civil 3D and Revizto are installed on your computer.
-
You have the required access rights in the destination Revizto project.
The required set of access rights depends on your goals. Consult the following table.
Right Description Append 3D Export new 3D models and new versions of the 3D models that you exported earlier.
This does not grant the right to export new versions of 3D models that were previously exported by other Revizto users.
Edit 3D Export all 3D models, including new versions of the 3D models that were previously exported by other Revizto users. Append 2D Export new sheets and new versions of sheets that you exported earlier.
This does not grant the right to export new versions of sheets that were previously exported by other Revizto users.
Edit 2D Export all sheets, including new versions of sheets that were previously exported by other Revizto users. Assign custom object properties This right is required to set model coordinates in Revizto when you export a 3D model for the first time.
Principles
You can export the following from a Civil 3D project to Revizto:
- A model with its referenced models (xrefs), current viewpoint, textures, lines, object geometries, object properties, and point clouds.
- Sheets that belong to the models with the sheet numbers, names, revisions, and properties.
When you export models and sheets from a Civil 3D project to Revizto, the following rules apply:
- When you export sheets for the first time, they are exported to a folder that is named after the model. Then you can edit the structure of sheet folders in Revizto as you like. The folder structure will be preserved during the next exports.
- When you re-export a Civil 3D project, the destination scene is completely overwritten. If some models are missing from the view or selection that you export, they will be deleted from Revizto after the export.
- When you re-export a Civil 3D project, the sheets that you export overwrite their previous versions. Other sheets that were previously exported from this Civil 3D project remain intact.
Limitations
When you export models and sheets from a Civil 3D project to Revizto, the following limitations apply:
- Some lines are not exported. Lines that are exported are approximated with polygonal structures in Revizto.
- Objects that don’t have polygonal presentations (have the same look in the 3dWireframe and Shaded modes) are not exported.
- Texture patterns are not exported.
- Texture coordinates are not exported due to AutoCAD API restrictions. As a result, textures might get distorted or rotated.

Troubleshooting
To troubleshoot your export of Civil 3D projects to Revizto, see the following sections:
Starting the export
Q: In Civil 3D, the "Revizto 5" menu item is unavailable.
A: Do one of the following:
-
If the menu item is present but not clickable, see In AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Plant 3D, the Revizto plug-in buttons are not clickable.
-
If the menu item is missing, ensure that the following conditions are met:
-
You are using a supported Civil 3D version.
-
Revizto is installed on your computer.
-
-
If both conditions are met, the AutoCAD plug-in that was installed with Revizto is missing or corrupted. To restore the plug-in, close Civil 3D and reinstall Revizto.
Export errors
Q: When I export a project from Civil 3D to Revizto, I get the "Current project is locked by one of Revizto apps. Please make sure no other app is working with this project at the moment." error.
A: Another application is writing data to a Revizto project. This might be manual or scheduled export from another authoring tool, or synchronization with a cloud. Wait until the operation is completed or cancel it.
Q: During the scheduled export from Civil 3D to Revizto, Civil 3D does not start.
A: Civil 3D might not start because it cannot sign in to Autodesk services. Check whether your Autodesk account is active.
Q: When I choose to update an existing model, some of the models in the list are unavailable. They are marked with the icon.
A: This can have the following reasons:
- The first version of the model was exported by another project member, and you do not have enough rights to overwrite it.
- The model was exported from another authoring tool. It can be overwritten only from that authoring tool.
Please consult the project owner on the correct method of updating the model.
Export results
Q: I cannot find an exported model in Revizto.
A: Do the following:
- In the Revizto application, open the object tree.
- In the object tree, right-click the model and click Focus on objects.
- If you still cannot find the model, in the object tree, right-click the model and click Isolate.
Note. You can undo the isolation by clicking Undo at the bottom toolbar.
Q: After the export from Civil 3D, some parts of a model are not displayed in Revizto.
A: This can have the following reasons:
-
The camera visibility distance in Revizto is short. The model parts were exported but you cannot see them from that distance.
In the Revizto application, do one of the following:
-
Move closer to see the missing parts.
-
In Preferences > Camera, increase the camera visibility distance.
-
-
To optimize model rendering, Revizto draws only one side of each polygon. You do not see the polygons because their surfaces that face your point of view are not displayed.
Q: After the export from Civil 3D, some models have incorrect positions.
A: The model’s drawing units are not set ("Units to scale inserted content" is set to "Unitless"). Select units and re-export the model.
Export scheduler
Q: The export does not start at the scheduled time.
A: Do the following:
- Ensure that at least one weekday is selected in the export schedule.
- Endure that the computer that runs the export is turned on, is not in sleep mode, and you are signed in to the Windows user account that you use to run the export.
- Ensure that the Microsoft Windows user account that you use to run the export is a member of the Administrators group.
