Make the viewpoint stable between section/measure tool and main 3D view

The viewpoint jumps when moving between sectioning/measuring tools and the main 3D view whenever there are tool panes open. This is clearly due to the size of the view frame changing when the panes close or open. This is especially annoying for measuring, but is also frustrating when exiting the section view and suddenly it looks different. My two ideas for this are

• Keep the panes open when opening the measuring/sectioning tool
• Render the view using the same center-of-view as the main 3D view, taking into account open panes so that the panes disappear but the camera doesn't move in relation to the user's screen.

  Thank you for your comments. The center of view is the center of the aspect ratio. Maintaining a ratio closer to your monitor will minimize the amount change.

  I think the issue here is the having the tool panes disappearing when entering into another command.  Having the screen rearrange itself when entering into a command where I'm trying to locate points is counter productive.
